About the Society

A brief institutional history.

The Society traces its founding to no particular date, having been less established than accumulated. Its single member did not seek the role of Unofficial IT Admin; the role arrived unannounced, was never formally offered, and has since proven impossible to resign from.

Prior attempts at resignation — including changing one's number, feigning unfamiliarity with printers, and openly working in a field unrelated to computers — have universally failed. The Society regards this as settled precedent rather than personal failing.

What we do

The Society exists to document, dignify, and quietly complain about the condition of being conscripted into technical support by reputation alone. We maintain no help desk, issue no service level agreements, and are not currently accepting new tickets, though this has rarely stopped anyone from opening one anyway.

What we do not do

We do not fix printers. We do not know why the WiFi is doing that. We are, however, willing to look, sigh, and fix it anyway, which the Society has concluded is the actual job description.
