Founding Charter
Articles of the Society
Adopted by acclamation. Ratified by nobody in particular. Binding nonetheless.
Article I
Membership shall be conferred automatically upon any individual who
is observed, even once, being "pretty good with computers," and may
not be declined, appealed, or returned.
Article II
No member shall be required to hold a certification, degree, or any
formal qualification. Having successfully restarted a router in front
of a witness shall be considered sufficient and irrevocable proof of
competence.
Article III
The Society's official position on the phrase "can you take a quick
look at something" is one of profound and justified suspicion.
Article IV
The advice to turn it off and on again shall be offered first, last,
and always, regardless of whether it has already been tried, denied,
or dismissed as too simple to work.
Article V
The Society holds no office, keeps no minutes, and convenes only in
spirit, usually while someone else's screen is frozen.
Motto, translated
Officium Non Petitum, Semper Assumptum — "The duty was never requested, and was always assumed."
